Editorials

I absolutely love working on these Editorial Photoshoots, because it gives me a chance to be a bit more creative, and it allows me to showcase my interpretation of the theme of the photoshoot and styling. Here are some highlights of the shoots I've recently worked on, enjoy!

Makeup for a Pacific Northwest Styled Bridal Photo Shoot at Wallace Falls

I had the most incredible opportunity being chosen as the MUA for a collaborative shoot between three profoundly brilliant photographers: Ron Delhaye Studios, MariRick Photography and Patrick Nied Photography. They beautifully showcased a new line of bridal gowns from MeaMarie Bridal Atelier, in the heart of the PNW. I've never before seen a group of photographers, who gel so well together, aren't afraid to share their tips and tricks, and feed off of each other's ideas, to create PURE MAGIC! It was such an honor to be apart of this exciting experience, and waiting to see these photos was torturous!

I am just blown away by the perfect mix of nature, beauty and art, that was captured here. This entire team is extremely gifted, and I just want to say THANK YOU, again, for including me in this collaboration! So, without further adieu...here are my favorite photos from each of the photographers. ENJOY!

Makeup for a Downtown Seattle Stylized Ballerina Photo Shoot

From the first day I met Shaylynn (owner of Shaylynn Marie Photography), on our kids' school field trip, I knew I HAD to work with her! She's so full of spunk, and has an incredible zest for life. Her creativity and excitement are just...CONTAGEOUS! We originally swapped phone numbers, for playdates. But, one morning, I got a call from her, and she was insanely excited about an idea she came up with. A BALLERINA PHOTO SHOOT! But not any ordinary shoot, by any means! She wanted an Industrial/Downtown, Pretty/Grungy, Cold/Wet (well maybe not the last two, but hey, it's Seattle) feel, for this Ballerina Shoot. She immediately scouted out the PERFECT ballerina model for us, and as soon as I saw a photo of Lexi, my mind started racing with ideas! Her face is a Makeup Artist's DREAM! We collaborated for a few weeks, and this is the finished product!

We began with a soft, messy up do, for the hairstyle. For her first makeup look, we wanted it to be clean, soft and pretty, with a focus on the eyebrows and lips. Can we all just take a look at those brows! They are just PERFECT! I myself long for full, perfectly shaped eyebrows. They frame her face so beautifully, I just couldn't get over it. Lexi was such a sweet girl, and very professional. She just lit up, when she took a look in the mirror! For the face, I applied a sheer foundation, light bronzer and just a touch of a baby pink blush. I kept the eyes light, as well, with skin toned satin eye shadow and thin coat of mascara (waterproof, by the way. Did I mention it was raining?)

Onto look number TWO! It was also the first day of daylight savings time, so we were running out of daylight FAST! I had roughly 10 minutes to switch her over from soft/pretty Ballerina, to Grungy/Rebellious Ballerina. I took down her hair, backcombed like crazy, and hair was done! To transform her makeup, I applied a charcoal brown shadow and the way around the lids and a duo-chrome blue/brown shadow on the inner corners and blended up towards the brows. I darkened her brows a bit more and added a darker, vampier shade of lipstick. Funny how makeup can alter your attitude! She was definitely loving the change, and wasn't afraid to show the camera!

Thank you, Shaylynn, for this amazing, creative idea, and for including me! It was such an honor and privilege to work with you. She has a TRUE talent, and thoroughly enjoys every aspect of what she does! I am definitely looking forward to future collaborations with her!

Makeup for a Fun and Funky Chevron and Turquoise Stylized Editorial Wedding Photoshoot

It was such a great honor and opportunity to get to work with these incredibly talented and inspiring ladies, Heather Lynn Photographie and Mariah Rainier Style. Chevron prints and accents are all the rage right now in fashion and decor, but Mariah had a new vision and the way she executed it in her styling of this wedding photoshoot was just to die for! It was fun, funky and yet modern with the perfect touches of classic vintage style. Click here to view Mariah's Blog Post of the shoot. It turned out amazing, and Heather captured every moment  and fine detail of it! She did a wonderful job orcestrating this shoot and gathering all of her favorite vendors to all come together to make on fabulous team!

Every aspect of this shoot was made up by people who genuinly enjoy what they do, but you don't have to meet them to know that...it comes across in these photos and that special eye comes from Heather. In her words, "I just love life, and capturing it from every angle. For me, photography is about capturing moments in life that evoke emotion, memories, and inspiration. Children, Families, High School Seniors, I love 'em all! But I've gotta say, there's something powerful and emotional about photographing Weddings. Weddings are my favorite, and I get misty-eyed every time I see the look on a groom's face as his bride walks down the isle. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I just love telling the story of the most important day in a couples lives through my photography." Click here to view Heather's Blog Post of the shoot.

The makeup I did for this shoot was inspired by the mix of classic, vintage and funky aspects of this style. I began by creating a flawless base by airbrushing her foundation. Airbrushing also allows me to custom mix colors to provide the most perfect skin match possible. I kept the eyeshadow and placement pretty classic, as far as bridal goes, with a clean champagne lid and warm neautral contoured crease. But then I added a dramatic black winged eyeliner and gorgeous false lashes to incorporate a modern flare. I kept the rest of the face fresh, with minimal contouring and highlighting, and just a touch of peachy pink blush on the cheeks. Now, normally, it's not "proper makeup practice" to pair and dramatic eye with a darker or brighter lip...but nobody said this was a cookie cutter bridal look and the style of the shoot sure wasn't! So I totally went for it! If it's done right, a brighter pinky red lip can look drop dead gorgeous on your wedding day! I couldn't be more happy and excited with how this makeup look turned out and how beautifully it blended with the style of this shoot!

Hair credit goes to my beautiful friend and hair designer, Miss Sarah Kelley. She is quite the perfectionist and pretty dang amazing at what she does...it definitely shows! Click here to view Sarah's album of hair designs. She is incredible and such a fun kind hearted person to work with. If you could call it that at all...we had so much fun doing this together, that it hardly felt like work! The passion for what we do just shines through these photos :)

Makeup for Stylized Editorial Photoshoot ~ Pink Wedding Dress & Style ~ The Perfect Blend ~ Vintage Tea Party Inspired

I had the most amazing time working on this Editorial shoot, with Heather Lynn Photographie and Mariah Rainer! My relationship with Heather began 7 years ago when I met her for my Engagement Photoshoot, and from then she photographed our wedding, maternity, newborn and family shoots. And most recently we've been working together, which is a dream! She is the most fun, creative and inspiring friend and photographer I know! I've been doing makeup for many of her shoots, from  beautiful Weddings, to Boudior Shoots set in fabulous hotels, and my favorite...Stylized Editorial Shoots! Click Here to view Heather's Blog Post of this shoot.

I absolutely love these editorials, because it gives me a chance to be a bit more creative, and it allows me to showcase my interpretation of the theme of the photoshoot and styling. Speaking of styling, you have to check out this fab stylist mentioned above. Mariah's visions and awesome vintage style paired with new ideas just come together so amazingly! So when you pair Mariah and Heather together...BAM! Fabulosity at it's finest!

The makeup I did for this particular Bridal Editorial was inspired by this Vintage Tea Party theme. A taupe, grey and rose pink soft smokey eye, paired beautifully with pretty pink cheeks and glossy rose nude lips. The flawlessly airbrushed foundation made for the most perfect canvas for the rest of the look, and it lasted all day! Didn't hurt that our model, Katie, was absolutely gorgeous to begin with...my job wasn't too hard ;)
